Funding will come from the following sources:

1. Investors in the Corporation that will initially be Oceanic City

Oceanic City will develop mariculture as its base of economics. Mariculture, or fish farming, promises to be a leading business opportunity in the 21st century.

"But fisheries around the world, including many in the United States, are in trouble, note Botsford and colleagues. They point to a recent report by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization indicating that global fisheries in the 1990s are leveling off at about 100 million tons caught annually. And nearly half of the individual commercial fish species are fully exploited, while another 22 percent are over-exploited. Recent examples of over fishing include the collapse of the cod and haddock populations off of the East Coast of the United States and Canada."  http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/1997/07/970728061326.htm

Any corporation that gets into the line of mariculture now will make heavy profits in future. Although it is considered a high-risk gamble, the potential pay-off will attract investors with imagination and long-term profit gains in mind.

It is a $70 billion industry per year, as  the population increases so too will the profits.

2. Sales of residential Units:

Some of the inhabitants who will colonize Oceanic City will do so with the intent to remain for life. Much like selling condominiums, Ocean city will sell housing units. Initial designs call for units of 1200 to 2000 square feet, most with yards on average of 1250 square feet. The estimated cost of the smallest units is near $190,000 the cost of larger units is slightly over $500,000 an average of approximately $ 345,000 (US)

It is expected that at optimal capacity that each residential platform will hold 225 to 300 housing units meaning a sales value of  $ 77,625,000 to $ 103,500,000 (US)

3. Sales and rental of Retail/commercial units:

It is estimated that there will be approximately 100 units on the lowest levels available for lease, sales or rental for commercial businesses.  The estimate is that between $25,000,000 and $50,000,000 (US) could be generated from commercial businesses.

4. Tourist Trade:

There are no hard numbers or estimates for the potential of tourist trade. Although it is possible to venture forth into that line, Oceanic Project has not focused its main economics on tourist trade.

5. Ocean research institutes:

How many and how much depends on which institutions desire to rent/lease space on the platforms.

6. Donations:

It can be expected that a few donation for the start up of Oceanic Project will be a fraction of the total funds needed.

Considerations should be taken when we consider where the population where come from and who will "own" Oceanic project.

Other similar projects are aimed at the upper middle class and the wealthy, there are advantages to this, however Oceanic Project will seek to relieve over population on land, the best target population would be those individuals from "third world" countries were they would gain an advantage by living on Oceanic City platforms and working for corporate interests.

Got an idea how to raise funds for this project?  Let's face it I'm not a business man, however you might be and know of a good way to fund this project. If so you can drop me a line at Wraithwynd@Gmail.com or you can visit me at my favorite hangout where I started a thread on this subject: http://answerpool.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/333604891/m/6021035113
